Bob Lester Patterson was born November 30, 1937 in Vinita, Oklahoma to his parents Luther and Anna Josephine (Terry) Patterson as their youngest child. He was raised in Vinita and received his early education there. Bob married Julie Ann Hough on August 17, 1957 in Benton County, Arkansas. Bob’s first job in construction testing began in 1957 with Tulsa Testing which later became US Testing. He also worked for Nebraska Testing in 1960, moved to Hobart with Oklahoma Testing and later moved to Clinton where daughter, Leslie was born. His career moved him to Arkansas where testing was being done on concrete to be used for building missile sites. Bob came back to Oklahoma and settled in Chickasha and then moved to McAlester, when the Indian Nation Turnpike was being built.I t was in McAlester that he eventually started his own testing business, Oklahoma Testing of McAlester. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. Bob loved sports. He was the McAlester Country Club Champion in 1969. He loved to bowl, watch OKC Thunder and was an avid OU football fan. He also served on the Hospital Board for 8 years. He loved animals, especially “Boogie” his dog that he rescued and their cat, “Pete”.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Ann Patterson, of the home; daughter, Leslie Kay Patterson, of McAlester; sister-in-laws, Linda Russell, Elizabeth (Liz) Sullivan and husband Bob; brother-in-law, Charles (Chips) Hough and wife Janice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Herman Patterson and Gail Patterson; 2 sisters, Grace Patterson Schmidt and Bonnie Sue Patterson Crockett.
Honorary pallbearers are Jerod Eddy, Joe Brown, Don Shuller, Ron Testa, John Nich, Bryan Powers, Corby Key and Steve Davis.
The family requests that all donations be made to All Saints Episcopal Church Food Pantry.
